I'm a post graduate student from south-west England, UK.

Art is something which I have always enjoyed, and something which I pursue in my spare time. I love to paint with oils, as well as craft with yarn or clay. Projects usually revolve around an interest in the natural world and earth history.

I have an Etsy store where I sell crochet items, patterns and other crafted items. Come take a look at artbyekaty.etsy.com! You can also find my patterns on Ravelry and Craftsy.

This Deviant page is mainly to gain useful criticism and to learn from others and to just be a part of this awesome and talented community!

Interests
Due to this term at Uni being very full on I haven't had much time to dedicate to crochet, but I've been doing a bit here and there. I did have one project that I've been working on since about March, which I'm excited to say I finally finished!

It's an amigurumi doll of one of my favourite youtubers, called Dodger (Dexbonus and Presshearttocontinue). It started as an idea of something to give to her at Gemucon to show my appreciation as an avid viewer of her videos, but since the con got cancelled I decided to still finish it and will hopefully send it to her po box. I love the way it turned out (apart from the arms being a little short) and want to try to make more anthropomorphic amigurumi's. The hair was the most challenging as there weren't any tutorials or anything for doing straight realistic looking hair. I basically followed the method used to make animal yarn tails (use dog brush to brush out fibres and then a straightening iron). The copper and red colours worked better than I expected too :)

After posting it to deviantart and tumblr, I was so chuffed today that Dodger had seen and reblogged my post!! It's definitely brightened my day in what is currently a super stressful time in the last stretch of my dissertation.

Hi John, yes I come on deviant art now and again but mostly just to browse. I am in the last part of my masters degree so hope to find a job in the autumn or early next year. I also hope to be doing some more painting in the autumn and will be more active here on dA :D I always love to see your new paintings :)

Hi again Katy, I have not been on here a whole lot either lately because of school and painters block, last year for me to get a Bachelors, it seems like I've been in school forever, you have been too. I was watching Rick Stevens Europe on television the other day and he was in Wales, it looked beautiful. with rolling hills and organic farming very peaceful and interesting, talk to you again sometime...:) (Smile)
